My Mother's Day started off with a big bouquet of roses from my husband and kids. I was also treated to breakfast with my mother, father in law, husband and kids. I got a shirt that I really wanted and later in the day my husband was going to get me a Tattoo!!! I was super excited for. Unfortunately, the tattoo was scheduled during the same time as my son's soccer game so I had to miss it. Everything in my gut told me that he was going to score his first goal while I was gone. Sure enough at the exact moment I called my step mother, Julian was kicking his first goal of the season. He played so well that he was able to score another goal within minutes. My heart ached because I really wanted to be there for him but I am so thankful that my wonderful step mom was there to cheer him on.
Last year my sister in law Amy had suffered two strokes the day before mother's day. She nearly lost her life. For the next year she had to fight hard. Luckily, Amy fought hard and strong. She survived the unthinkable. Last year, right after mother's day, a small group of her friends and family got together and got a bird tattoo in support of Amy. This year Amy was able to join us and get the same tattoo along with her husband, who has been waiting to get it with her. She was super excited. She watched as the same guy that did our tattoo do hers. Amy was mesmerized the entire time. It was extremely meaningful for all of us. I even think the tattoo artist was happy that he was able to give Amy her tattoo.
Another fun thing happening this month is the INDIANAPOLIS 500. A few of us from work were able to spend the day out at the track on Friday. It was so much fun. We were able to meet Tony Kaanan and Connor Daly. It was a lot of fun. The Indianapolis 500 is running this weekend for the 101 time. I am not a big track person on race day. I will hopefully be enjoying food, friends, and swimming. If you are going make sure to stay safe and drink plenty of water.
Now that the weather is warmer and less rainy, we have been able to do some SPRING CLEANING to the outside of our house. Getting rid of old stuff that we don't need and cleaning out the garage. Now, I just need to get my back yard together and I will be ready for a party. I love grilling out on those cool spring nights. The kids are out of school after tomorrow and I will be able to put them to work on that. I can't wait!!
Helpful hints for an easier spring cleaning:
1) Load plastic toys, Dish Sponges, Toothbrush holder and soap dishes, pet toys, plastic brushes and toothbrushes, light fixtures, and removable cup holders in your dishwasher for an easier clean.
2) Clean your windows on a cloudy day. This way the sun doesn't dry up your cleaner before you have a chance to actually clean it. Also, use old newspaper to get a really good clean.
3) Purge your closet. All your old stained clothes that you don't wear anymore throw them out. Take all of your hangers and have them "hooked" in backwards. When you wear something, wash it and replace it normally in the closet. After 30 days any clothes with hangers in the backwards position means you don't wear them and you should probably get rid of them. Laundry is a big enough hassle so, why have extra clothes.
4) Did you know that you can clean drains and help them from getting clogged by mixing 1/2 of baking soda with 1/4 cup of salt, pour down the drain. Heat 1 cup of vinegar and pour it down the drain. It will foam and bubble. Let it stand for 15-20 minutes while you are cleaning the rest of your bathroom. After you are done let the hot water run for 30 seconds.
Hope that was helpful.
Until Next Time........
